Academic podcasts

Last August, Purdue University began offering podcasts of some of course lectures. They are available at BoilerCast and are generally intended for students who miss class and need to catch up. However, the professor can also opt to make them available publically. UC Berkeley also has podcasts of a small but diverse number of lectures.

There are the usual problems of listening to a lecture without seeing the visuals, but generally, they seem to be well-received.

Ed-cast is a repository of higher education podcasts provided by the University of Illinois Springfield and the University of San Francisco. It is very limited in content now. Let’s hope it grows.
