Today, the NY Times is reporting that Bush doesn't agree with the change to the Global Struggle Against Violent Extremism.
GRAPEVINE, Tex., Aug. 3 - President Bush publicly overruled some of his top advisers on Wednesday in a debate about what to call the conflict with Islamic extremists, saying, "Make no mistake about it, we are at war."

If I was the doubting type (and I am), I'd say this entire nonsense was a fabrication of the administration's Smoke And Mirror machine. They initiate discussions on maybe toning down the language of the "WoT" and Sheriff Bush says "No way! This is WAR!"
He comes out as not susceptible to the moronic PR machine and the war continues!
