Religious instruction

The other day Max picked a small, plastic cross up off the couch and waved it around. "Look Daddy," he said "a sword!" Then I had to explain that, although people often mistake the two, it was in fact a cross and not a sword. And that a cross was a symbol of Baby Jesus, remember him from Christmas? They use the cross to represent Baby Jesus because when he grew up some people nailed him to a cross. And if you look closely you can see Baby Jesus nailed to this one.
I figured it was best not to get into the part where the pieces of bread are turned into his body parts and everyone eats them. He's kinda fond of Baby Jesus right now.

There was a story in the Wall Street Journal recently about kids who turn out religious. That is so going to happen to me. Probably to you too.
